Simba of Atwater Village

 





Hello, my name is Simba and I live in Atwater Village. I met Sweet Slinky on a Wednesday morning in November of 2023. She was walking with a few of her friends. They all seemed a little sad so I greeted them with leg rubs and let them pet me. I think I cheered them up a bit. My neighborhood is lovely and worthy of a visit. You can wander around on your own or you can follow Sweet Slinky's walking route: Atwater Village Map. There are lots of shady residential streets with charming houses and, if you're lucky, you might meet me or other local kitties. You can stroll along the river where you'll find some bridges that are just for pedestrians. One is even for horses. That's right, horses! In L.A.! You can also get a bite to eat and pick up some wine and eggs. If you like movies you can recreate a scene from a famous one that was filmed at the end of my street. It was directed my someone named Quentin. They even went to the trouble to transform the existing restaurant into a place called "Teriyaki Donut". But after me, the best thing Atwater Village has to offer is the opportunity to adopt a kitty (or a dog). Be sure to vistit Santé D'Or if you're looking for a new best friend.

The Cat Joy Project was conceived in late 2024 when I found myself feeling overwhelmed by a sense of doom and gloom. I needed to refocus my attention. And so the idea of creating quilted cat squares as a way to share my love of cats, walking, and Los Angeles was born. After spending the latter part of 2024 and the first month of 2025 teaching myself to sew, the project is now ready to be launched. The hand sewn quilted squares will be released on my walking routes for someone to find. Each square represents a cat that I have encountered either on one of my walks or at some other point in my life. Every cat has a story. You can read their stories here. If you find a cat square, you may keep it or relocate it to be found again. I hope this small gesture will bring some joy and happiness to those who find the cats and those who follow their stories.

Sono un gatto molto amichevole. Vivo vicino al convento di Monteluco. Sono un micio fortunato perché molti pellegrini che percorrono la Via di San Francesco vengono a trovarmi. Sono sempre felice di farmi accarezzare e coccolare mentre si riposano nel bellissimo parco di casa mia. Spero di vederti presto. Buon Cammino! I Gatti Sforzeschi

Sono un Gatto Sforzesco. Sono uno dei tanti gatti che hanno fatto del Castello Sforzesco la mia dimora. Si ritiene che i miei antenati risalgano all'epoca di Leonardo Da Vinci. La maggior parte di noi vive nei fossati che circondano le mura del castello. Solo i turisti più attenti avranno l'onore di intravederci. Essendo uno dei felini residenti più coraggiosi, spesso vagavo per il cortile intrattenendo i visitatori umani. È stato lì che ho conosciuto SweetSlinky un giorno di primavera tanti anni fa (2017). Lei è una di quelle attente che ci fa visita da quando era ragazza. È da un po che non ci viene più a trovare spesso come una volta. The Cats of The Los Angeles Flower Market

  Hello, we are the cats of the L.A. Flower Market . We are not street cats or house cats; we are working cats employed by the flower vendors. We keep the rodents at bay and bring joy to the lucky customers who catch a glimpse of us. In our free time we snooze amongst the blooms, strut around the market, and sometimes interact with the humans. Sweet Slinky occasionally pays us a visit and while she finds the flowers to be lovely it is us she enjoys the most. You should come down and visit us sometime.
