Sweet Slinky Walking in L.A.

I am the king of the 6th St viaduct cat colony. This is my story: I held court at the Boyle Heights neighborhood cat colony in the shadow of the 6th St. viaduct. I have moved on from the streets, but my colony is still going strong. There are feeders that care for the felines and do their best to get them spayed and neutered. Despite being an outdoor cat, I was quite friendly. I encountered Sweet Slinky many a time and let her pet me and take my picture. If you find yourself in the neighborhood pay a visit to the cats who still reside there. They can be found roaming around near the corner of Clarence and Inez streets.   Hello, I am Thomas the Monte's Camera Shop cat. I was a local legend in Whittier. There's even a YouTube video about me! Thomas of Uptown Whittier  The camera shop was my home for over 20 years. Some people came to the store just to see me, including Sweet Slinky. She would visit often and always spent time fussing over me. I was loved by my humans and the people of Whittier.   Welcome to the Cat Joy Project Hello, I am Snaggletooth Crumple Ear (that's not really my name just a nickname given to me by Sweet Slinky). I met Sweet Slinky one afternoon when I was sunbathing in my front yard. I let her pet me and take a picture. It was the only time we ever saw each other, but I am told that she keeps an eye out for me whenever she walks in Monrovia. The Cat Joy Project was conceived in late 2024 when I found myself feeling overwhelmed by a sense of doom and gloom. I needed to refocus my attention. And so the idea of creating quilted cat squares as a way to share my love of cats, walking, and Los Angeles was born. After spending the latter part of 2024 and the first month of 2025 teaching myself to sew, the project is now ready to be launched. The hand sewn quilted squares will be released on my walking routes for someone to find. Each square represents a cat that I have encountered either on one of my walks or at some other point in my life. Every cat has a story. You can read their stories here.
